Installation of bird diverters on the 220kV Morzyczyn - Recław power line
Recently, on the 220kV Morzyczyn - Recław power line, on the groundwire and lightning protection cable, we have installed about 1000 bird diverters in the form of orange springs.
The installation on the groundwire cable with the use of a sidecar went smoothly, but the condition of the lightning protection cable did not allow to be driven on it. Therefore, we decided to change the method of installing bird diverters to one that does not burden the cable. We used a drone (!). As we have the best and most precise drone operators, this solution allows us to hang the diverters from the air and does not disturb the wires. In addition, we also decided to replace the springs with Firefly markers. The entire installation was done by two our workers within 5 days. It was also the first time that we used a drone to install bird diverters on PSE devices.
